This summer looked different to our traditional holiday playschemes with the current pandemic guidelines and requirements being restricted. However with hours of planning from our team we were able to run a five week drop in provision based on Peckwater Estate for young people 8-16years
We successfully worked with over 200 young people throughout the whole summer, Young people were able to drop in to our sessions three days a week and take part in sports, games, free play, arts and other activities. The other two days were trips offsite.
We provided daily hot lunches and opened it up to the wider community. Young people were able to just pop by between two hours of the day and grab a lunch. Some stayed and ate with us on our tables set up and some chose not to. We met so many new young people from over this summer and have built up relationships with more young people through one summer than we ever have before! Some of the fantastic trips we managed to do were bike trips and residential, Thorpe Park, Football Golf, swimming and more”
We Would like to say a special thankyou to Young Camden Foundation for part funding our summer programme, Nial at The Avalon project for partnering with us and offering bike projects and residentials and to Joanne at Somers town for building this partnership and support throughout.
Over summer we provided over 160 young people with a hot meal more than once and this wouldn’t have been possible without the support and donations we receive weekly from Morrisons Chalk Farm branch. Morrisons team went over and above to support us with their donations.
All round we feel summer was a huge success and here are some comments from our young people!
