Munye League: Football, Community, and Talent
We dedicated our Sundays throughout the summer, the NW5 Football team had the privilege of participating in the Munye League, a local tournament organised by Camden United. Held at the Somers Town Community Sport Pitch, the tournament brought together over 8 teams from the area for friendly but fiercely competitive football.
The tournament wasn’t just about the game—it was a celebration of community and a chance to honour the memory of #Abdulaziz. His legacy brought everyone together, uniting us in the shared love of football and the values it promotes: teamwork, dedication, and respect.
Our NW5 team was the youngest squad in the tournament, but they didn’t let that hold them back. They remained undefeated throughout the majority of the league, showcasing incredible talent, determination, and resilience. Unfortunately, we narrowly lost to the eventual winners in a hard-fought match and finished 3rd place. Despite this, we are exceptionally proud of their performance, which highlighted the skill, unity, and potential of our amazing youth team.
Each week, we see over 60 young people come down to play and compete in this sport they love. The tournament was a testament to the incredible talent and passion that exists locally, with so many young players showcasing their skills, determination, and sportsmanship.
We’d like to thank Camden United for organising such a meaningful tournament, and all the players, supporters, and organisers who made it so special. Most importantly, we honour #Abdulaziz, whose memory continues to inspire unity and joy through the sport he loved.
Football is more than just a game—it’s a way of building connections, fostering talent, and creating a positive impact in our community. We couldn’t be prouder of our youth team and can’t wait for the next tournament!
