Last week, our after school club had the exciting opportunity to visit a local organisation, Rochester Square CLAY/GARDEN/FOOD, who have generously offered free creative sessions to all of our service users.
We took 18 primary-aged children on the trip, many of whom had never experienced pottery before. For some of the young people, this was their very first time working with clay, making it an especially memorable and meaningful experience.
During the session, the children learned about where clay comes from and how it is formed, before being guided through the process of making their own bowls. It was fantastic to see their creativity, concentration, and excitement as they shaped and designed their own pieces.
This opportunity not only introduced young people to a new art form, but also supported their confidence, patience, and fine motor skills. The session created a calm and engaging environment where children could express themselves and try something completely new.
We were proud to deliver this trip in partnership with community champion coordinators, whose support helped make the visit possible and ensured everything ran smoothly.
A big thank you goes to everyone involved in making this experience happen, especially Rochester Square CLAY/GARDEN/FOOD for generously offering these sessions to our young people.
We are really looking forward to attending again this Thursday and continuing to build on these creative opportunities for our after school club.
